Drop in a bank statement. Get your Schedule C.
Shoebox sorts every transaction into tax categories, learns from your corrections, and adds it all up for your accountant. The AI runs on this laptop, so your bank statement is never uploaded anywhere.
No statement handy?
- Import. Any bank's CSV export. You confirm which column is which.
- Review. Fix the lines it's unsure about. Each fix teaches it that merchant for good.
- Export. Totals by Schedule C line, ready for you or your accountant.

Tax summary
Expenses by Schedule C line
By quarter
Estimated tax payments are due in April, June, September and January.
Biggest deductions
Shoebox organizes your records; it isn't tax advice. Self-employment tax is estimated as 15.3% of 92.35% of net profit and ignores income tax, the Social Security wage cap and other deductions. Equipment can be depreciated (line 13) or, for items under $2,500 each, usually expensed as supplies (line 22). Check with a tax professional before filing.
Where your data goes
Nowhere. Your statement is read by this page, sorted by models running in this browser tab, and saved in this browser's own storage. There is no Shoebox server, account or analytics.
You can check it yourself: open DevTools (F12) → Network, import a statement, and watch. The only downloads are the app itself and, the first time, the open model files from Hugging Face. Nothing is ever sent out.
After that first visit Shoebox works with Wi-Fi switched off.
Your rules
Every correction becomes a rule for that merchant. These are yours: back them up and take them to next year's statements.
The model
gte-small always on
33 MB, MIT licence. Reads each merchant name, ranks the tax categories for it, and spots lines that look like ones you've already corrected. Runs on your CPU in about a second per hundred lines.
